Stampin' from the Heart

Lattice Birthday Card

As promised, here is another card using bashful blue and so saffron - and a birthday card is the sentiment that was chosen for this one -

Another simple, yet elegant and easy card to make!  This one came from one of the Stampin' Up! demonstrators from the Bedazzler group - and what fun it was to make!

Supplies needed are listed below (one time purchases are noted).  This will make 48 cards, using all 24 sheets of so saffron card stock.  Note that if the supplies were purchased for the baby card posted yesterday, the only expendable supplies needed are those listed in BLUE.

Instructions to make all 48 cards are below - and can be adapted to make just one:

1. Cut all 24 sheets of So Saffron card stock in half, so that you have 48 pieces that measure 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Fold in half and run the bone folder over the edge so that you have a clean, crisp edge.  You card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  (Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool  and Simply Scored Place Markers #1122334 $29.95 and #125625 $2.50 make this so easy and quick to do!)
2. Cut 12 sheets of Bashful blue card stock into 48 pieces of 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" - you will get 4 out of a sheet of card stock.  Reserve scraps for punching with the modern label punch.
3. Cut Whisper white card stock 3 1/2" x 3 1/2".  You should get 6 to a sheet - you'll neet 8 sheets total.  Reserve scraps for stamping the "happy birthday" saying.
4. Cut a piece of card stock 4" 4".  Run this through the big shot, using the lattice die.
5. Using the lattice die image as a stencil, place on Whisper White piece and ink up a piece of a sponge (cut one sponge in quarters) with So Saffron ink and randomly sponge over the stencil - then fill in with an inked Bashful Blue sponge (re use the sponge from the Baby card posted yesterday), coveing the remaining white space.  Remove the stencil.
6. Using the center of the flowers from the Greenhouse Garden stamp set, stamp the large center flower image in bashful blue and randomly stamp across the image.  Stamp the smaller center of the flower image in So Saffron.
7. Adhere the stamped image to the Bashful Blue card stock.
8. Tie the statin ribbon around the bottom section of the card and tie a bow.
9. Adhere it to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhered to each corner.
10. Stamp a saying of your choice from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set on a Whisper White scrap and punch out using the Word Window Punch.  Adhere to a Modern Label punched out image in Bashful Blue.  Attach to card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
11. Punch out a flower using the Itty Bitty Shapes punch - pierce a hole through it using the paper-piercing tool and adhere a brad.  Adhere to project with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Finished!
There are several steps to this card, but it goes fast.  When I work on cards for the troops, I do it in several "mini" steps -

I cut the paper - all at one sitting...

Then I stamp and punch, or use the big shot, or ink up, or apply the dimensionals...

If I only have 5 or 10 minutes, I can usually get one piece of the card finished --- and want to keep on going!

Baby Card in Daffodil and Blue

One of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up!® Demonstrator is the friendships that form over the years with so many of you who share a common interest - stamping!  And I am fortunate to belong to an awesome group called the Bedazzlers - we met yesteday and had a great time stamping and sharing ideas.

We each brought a card to share and stamp - as we all learn from one another.  The samples were donated to From Our Hearts - and will be mailed to the troops.

And easy to make!  I am sharing this idea for a baby card - for those who want an easy card to make for the troops.  The supplies are listed below that are needed to make this card - and can be purchased through my Stampin' Up! website (link on the right sidebar).  Please note that I CANNOT make a profit off of any supplies sold for cards that donated to From Our Hearts.  ANY and ALL profit is returned to From Our Hearts and is used to fund the operation (postage, supplies, operating expenses, etc.).  SO, please let me know, when the order is placed, if it is for cards for the troops so that I can write a check to From Our Hearts!  Email me at mpshea@mchsi.com if you have any questions.

The following instructions make 24 cards, using 12 sheets of bashful blue.  Each package of colored card stock has 24 sheets (and the whisper white has 40 sheets).  The remaining sheets of colored card stock and whisper white are used on the another card that will be posted.  These instructions can easily be followed to make just one card:

1. Cut 12 sheets of bashful blue card stock in half, so that the card stock measures 4 1/4 x 8 1/2.
2. Fold in half, and use a bone folder to crease the folded edge to get a nice folded edge.  Note:  Stampin' Up!® Simply Scored Scoring Tool #122334 $29.95 makes this job so very easy, especially when making many cards at one time!  I recommend the Simply Scored Place Markers #125625 $2.50, too.)
3. Cut 3 sheets of whisper white card stock to measure 5 1/4" x 4" (cut the 5 1/4" on the long side of the card stock).  You will have 12 pieces from 3 sheets.  This is the first layer.
4. Using the Stripes embossing folder, emboss each of the 12 sheets of whisper white using "no tabs".
5. Cut 1 sponge in quarters.  Open ink up the round surface of the sponge with bashful blue ink and sponge the raised surface of the embossed white card stock.
6. Cut a 6" piece of ribbon. and lay it across the front of the embossed card stock, approximately 2 1/4" inches from the bottom.  Turn the piece over, and with the snail adhesive, adhere it to the back of the card stock.  Flip it over, and with a piece of baker's twine, tie gather the ribbon on the left side and tie a knot.  Trim the ends of the baker's twine.
7. Cut 3 sheets of whisper white card stock to measure 5" x 4" to stamp the feet image (cutting on the long side of the card stock), saving the 1 1/2" ends to stamp the sayings.  You will need one additional sheet or use scraps to stamp more of the sayings.
8. Stamp the baby feet in bashful blue.  Tear around the edges of the cardstock and sponge the edges with bashful blue.  Stamp the "it's a" and "boy" separately, tearing them both out and inking the edges in daffodil delight ink.
9. Adhere the baby feet image with snail adhesive.
10. Position the "it's a" and "boy" near the bottom and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
11. Adhere the entire piece to the bashful blue base.

 Done!  You'll have 12 sheets of bashful blue left and about 31 sheets of whisper white in your stash...

Who says elegant has to take a lot of effort?

This card is quick and easy!  Made for our downline meeting this weekend, I whipped up several of these card kits in no time.

The saying, from the stamp set Word Play is stamped in Soft Suede; the floral design is from the Vintage Vogue set and stamped in Pear Pizzaz.  The flowers are colored in with the small tip end of the Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker - and the centers with a little bit of Daffodil Delight - and although not visible in this photo, a little bit of Dazzling Details added to give it a bit of "pop"!

One small pearl added, let the card dry and VOILA! it is a work of art, from the heart!

Clear mount template

Wow, I can't believe it has been so long since I've updated my blog - this morning, finally, I have taken the time to update all of the links to the specials that Stampin' Up! has going on right now.

You'll see one pretty neat link - and that is to a template for our new clear mount blocks.  This will help to decide what size block is needed when ordering the new clear mounts stamps.  I LOVE the clear mounts!  They are easy to use, easy to see when stamping (no need to use the stamp-a-ma-jig with these!), they take up less storage space and a bonus, they COST LESS than the wood mount!  The clear mount are made of the same rubber and cushion so the images stamp with the same clean, crisp lines.

I love the wood mount, for obvious reasons - they are well made, and what I am used to using - convenient, for they are "ready to use" and I will not be getting rid of any of them!  They are the "staple" in my stamp collection!

Stampin' Up! Announces Color Renovation!

Stampin' Up!® has announced a total REVAMP of the colors!!!

Effective July 1, some colors are retiring, there will be some new colors introduced (yeah!) and some colors are coming out of retirement and will be a part of the basic color core scheme.  So break out those retired colors from years past and you'll be seeing some brand new color combinations ...

The new colors (Daffodil Delight, don't you just love the color names?) will be available for purchase July 1. Retiring and we will say a "fond farewell" to:

 

These retiring colors (paper, inkpads, reinkers, ribbon, etc.) will be available for purchase through June 30 so there is time to purchase your stock before they are gone forever.

Stampin' Up! will be making this transition as easy as possible on all of us, offering specials for these new colors so keep your eyes pealed for those as the time draws nearer.
