Belle cards

When I posted that I'm back, that I've been busy, now you can see why!  These cards are just 5 of 6 designs that were created for our card making event yesterday at the First Christian Church in Belle.  And these are the cards the ladies made:

The card on the far left is called an "inchies" and I cannot take credit for it - it is CASED from my downline, Pat, who shared it with us at our last downline meeting.  And the ladies in Belle thought this one was the best out of all of them!

174 cards made!  All in support of our troops.  These cards were created and donated to From Our Hearts compliments of Lisa B. and 9 other brand new stampers in the Belle/Bland area who provided the funds in support of this effort.

And of course, a great big thank you to my downline, Susan T for the many, many hours spent with me, helping to figure out colors, stamp sets, etc. and organizing the multitude of cards received so that I have room enough to cut all of the cardstock for events such as this!!!  I don't know what I would do without her support.

Connect Midmidmissouri published this article about the From Our Hearts cardmaking event we held on July 18 - you'll see my friend, Diana, and my husband stamping cards for the troops!  the second picture is a sample of one of 10 cards made that day.

Connect Midmissouri is the on-line article created by KRCG, Jefferson City's local TV station.  They came, interviewed and filmed the event - it was on the 6 and 10 p.m. news.

We created over 1100 cards - just short of the 1300 we planned for.  The remaining cards will be made this Sunday at the Missouri River Regional Library.

July 18 cardmaking event

But with many hands, the work went quickly.  Thanks to Tom, Diana, Dave, Debbie, Justin, Susan...and several others who just came to help.

This is Susan and Debbie L, an SU! demonstrator who found out about this event, called, and offered her assistance.  Of course I said "YES!!!!"

4th of July Pictures

Stamping?  No, no time for stamping on the fourth.  This is what I was up to:

What else??? Spreading the word about From Our Hearts.  Jefferson Bank of Missouri graciously donated a tent and space at the Salute to America 2009 celebration in downtown Jefferson City.

Isn't this gorgeous?  We live is such a beautiful Capitol city!  This picture was take in the morning before the crowd appeared.

Our tent was large and we were thankful as it RAINED!!! But we stayed dry, thanks to Jefferson Bank!!
My heartfelt thanks to Jayne Dunkmann, Marketing Officer at Jefferson Bank of Missouri, for donating the tent and space to From Our Hearts.  Your enthusiasm and support of our effort is so appreciated.

Cards for the troops - a glimpse behind the scene

Busy?  To say the least!   Here is a picture, behind the scene, of what happens when we are preparing boxes to send over to the troops for From Our Hearts .  Pictured is Diana and Susan, going through the many donated cards already matched with envelopes and sealed in protective clear envelopes, ready to go into the boxes (this makes our job so easy when they arrive at our doorstep this way!)  Their mission?  To sort through thousands of cards to be sure the fall and holiday cards are pulled out and into a separate "holding" area until it is time for them to be mailed.  Many, many volunteer hours go into this effort.  My thanks to both of them for helping to get these boxes off to our soldiers.  Over 1,000 cards were put in the mail this morning to our servicemen and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  They love our handcrafted cards and look forward to receiving our boxes.

One more card for the troops from the William Woods art students

So many creative cards were donated to From Our Hearts from Terry Martin's art students.  This one in particular caught my eye as the message is so appropriate for our servicemen and women.  The artwork on the eagle is just so beautiful:

From Our Hearts donation from William Woods University Students

Terry Martin, Professor at Williams Woods University has incorporated an art project for his students - that being a "cards for the troops" donation of their beautiful artwork to From Our Hearts.  Here is a sample of one of the dozens of cards that his students have created and donated to our effort.  This card is made by Jessi Reading.  Thank you Terry, and your students, for your donation!
